Need something to fill my hole!
I have a hole in my dash where a fixed VHF used to be. I have a handheld now so no point adding another. Also it's on a step to the bow so will likely get salty.
I was thinking of putting in a storage/glovebox type thing but can't find one small enough.
I the space I have is-
(h-150mm w-280mm)
Anyone know of anything that'll fit or any other ideas?

Just blank it off, or cut it bigger to take the smallest box you can find. Will be a handy little storage area.

The measurements are as large as it would allow for a box. I thought about blanking it but I defiantly won't be able to get a good finish on it.

Already got a stereo system fitted.
Did have an idea. My girlfriend used to have a vw polo that had a perfect storage bit. Could get one at a scrap yard, paint it white and seal it in.

Couple of suggestions.
Insert box for powder fire extinguisher, but not sure if product has to be stored vertically?
Fire Extinguisher Insert Moulding (FE1 and FE2)
CNC engraved sign for VHF. Boat name, call sign, MMSI, etc.

Small Piece of Stainless sheet ..just over size... Round off edges..powder coat it White and..bolt/screw and sikoflex inplace.
Neat tidy waterproof and very strong!

Seems like a waste of good stainless steel. Marine grade 316 deserves to be seen.

25W vs 5W; seems like a no-brainer to me.
On the extinguisher, they don't have to be stored vertically, but no matter how you mount it, it should be removed and "exercised" now and then (read: Beat it around a bit) to keep the powder from clumping up.

I've got an extinguisher in the back.
Though about putting another vhf in but it's on a step so will get wet often and also kicked and stepped on and bashed around. Plus I already have a handheld vhf.
Will see how the storage from the polo goes. Will take some photos

Get a piece of carbon plate to cover it, make sure it has a stable UV varnish/lacquer on it and it will look fine.... A little bit of carbon plate always looks good.
