Never use EBUYER
I have spent a fortune with them in the past - even pushed them on this site.
Never again.
High end motherboard and chip bought Christmas time. Motherboard developed a fault. Sent it back with the CPU for testing - they returned it saying no fault found - refused delivery and it went straight back - they said they would sort it.
It has taken 15 days in total - phoned them to hurry them up only to be told they have given a full refund. No authorisation from me or anything else. They refunded the money to my ex girlfriends card!!! I went beserk with them - they don't care a damn!!! The CPU was a special edition - no longer available and the replacement is 2x the price.
No money and no computer - not amused - any suggestions.

They have refunded the purchaser, your ex. Thats all they could do. Merchant accounts would not allow them to refund onto another card plus that way they do not pay the transaction charges. Piss poor luck though.
Incidently was having a read on legal aspects of forums yesterday, a long story, but very worrying. See here Sheffield UTD v Neil Hargreaves Proxy server time?

I wonder whether they actually identified anyone from their email address or IP address. If they did, I wonder if they actually took libel action against them - it looks like they'd still have a long way to go to prove that anything posted was actually actionable.

All IMHO
They forced the release of the information, setting case law? The next battle will be to force the ISP to release the IP data that related to the posters identity, if so setting more case law. Any request for information to a forum or blog/website owner must be met with caution on the data protection front but consideration to the case law set by the judgement above. As with any libel case it depends upon the money thrown at the case and who is fighting it (how much money they have)

I think the precedent was already established. What this did say was that you can only get the information on identities where the court orders it, and they will only do that if there is clear evidence of a possible case to answer. Even then the claimant had to pay £9000 in costs.
Not sure why this is in this thread. Whilst Cod is obviously having a rant as a disgruntled customer I can't see anything in it which is obviously libelous.

I always used to stick up for Ebuyer - Just wait until you get problems!!!
It was 10 months ago that I placed the order - things change. All they had to do was ASK!!! The CPU wasn't even faulty - just sent it to help them check the motherboard. CPU is discontinued - I can NOT buy another - they had NO right to refund it without even asking!!!
From the same order the following were also faulty that I never bothered claiming for - 1 600W PSU - ! Joypad - 2 oil filled radiators. All packed up within a few months.
The last statement I won't even bother replying to.............

So buy the nearest equivalent you can find and claim the difference from them. If they decline to pay then start County Court proceedings www.moneyclaim.gov.uk
It's very simple and far more satisfying than just ranting about how badly you've been treated!
