Happy new year to you Jeff... and all the forum members.

Not been on here nearly so much for the past few months as it's usually my closed season for sibbing. Also you get these cycles but having sorted to keeping the Aerotec, buying some new kit and a day van to operate the sib from damn me the latter half of 2021 threw up serious illness and loss involving several close family members... so 2022 can only get better.

As I always say though that's a benefit of a sib... sits tucked away at home eating nothing ready to go when the stars align.

Well I've been sibbing ten plus years and only this year bought a PLB. So yes I think they are a good idea but I'm late to the party.

Happy New Year to all on the forum. A very happy new year start for me as I had a hospital check yesterday for any recurrence of my bladder cancer which was removed 3 months ago, there is nothing left, all clear I'm very pleased to say.

Happy New Year to you all from me too.

Got my first outing of the year in today .. bitter cold but very enjoyable when dressed for the occasion. I has to stop half way round for a walk to warm up though. Didnt see much apart from three big budgies ..this pair of eagles are new to the area ..and the usual otters. Everything else must still be recovering from hogmanay.

Hope you all have an enjoyable boating 2022 too

Great way to start off your boating year Donny, it looks fantastic. Diane said it would make her holiday to see otters that close , didn't have the heart to tell her it would probably have been taken with a zoom lens

Steve ..Im no Dr Doolittle ..but I kid you not they swim and fish around 100 yards from where I stand and watch them ... then after they scoff enough fish ..they come back to their holt which is around 15 feet from where I am. They watch me the whole time when the come back to the holt and as long as I dont move or make a noise ..they then climb straight up the vertical wall..a height of around 7ft. Its truly amazing watching their muscles ripple and move as the go up the wall. Two females and two ciubs.. I see them every day just now as its quiet and no one around.. but it is getting busier with other folks coming to see them the past few days. When you are up on holiday ..assuming they have not moved on ,,I will show you them... its like everything..its knowing where they are and what time of the tide they come out. I have footage of the sliding down a seaweed ramp..climbing the wall..eating fish etc ..and will make it into a video soon

Last week.. I saw gulls dive into the loch ..so headed across to see what was going on. Saw a big fish tail break surface ..then a seal head popped up and grabbed the fish ..the gulls were going crazy cos fish flesh was flying..then next minute a sea eagle ..a young one appeared too ..and landed about 50 yards away from me. About an hour later..a guy I know stopped and dropped his fishing line down in the same spot ..and pulled out a huge ling. It sounds unbelievable but I have it all on video.

A couple of still shots from that day ..

The Ling which was stirring things up at the bottom of the loch.. its scoffed now

And the young sea eagle flying off ..no telephoto shots..standard 50mm lens stuff.

Winter boating is far more interesting that summer boating if you enjoy these kind of sightings..but Im delighted the majority of folks dont winter boat..because crowds scare everything away lol

When I lived in the city ..the only wildlife I saw was the glesga bears and I kept well out their road Now Im a country boy ..I spend most my day looking for these things as you dont see them sitting in the house unless on TV

You may have seen it already as its on my Youtube channel ..but this video covers three very different winter days up the loch ..I was interested in the seals as I suspect one was laying an egg. Surprisingly ..today I took the bigger boat out as I had a wildlife tog out to photograph the seals (He has a 600mm telephoto. Do you know.. I couldnt find and seals hauled out on rocks for him to photograph.. I can only think it was because the sea is warmer than the land air. Anyhoo..enjoy the video if you have not seen it.. you wont see scenery like that down the Clyde
