NW Ribster xmas curriculum
Since there'll be a few of us up over the xmas break in the Abersoch region, I was wondering if anyone would be interested in a spot of clay shooting at the Llanbedrog ground nearby as a small diversion to the Rib activities taking place on the 28th? There's no shooting in Wales on a Sunday unfortunately, but if people are around during the days either side of the cruise...
And while we're on the subject of boys' days out, I'll be bringing the golf clubs too, so there's another idea. And, if anyone wants to go scrambling in Snowdonia, I'll have the boots and Goretex with me. There you are, then - a whole myriad of ways to avoid the wife, girlfriend, kids (delete as applicable) over the xmas break.

Sounds good, is there a slipway where I can leave the Mrs in the car for the day?
What date are you in Wales from, and until when?
I hope you're not taking your 12 bore on the Paintball day in February!

No room in the Golf......
for my TYZ 250, Ping Zings or the Luigi Franchi plus the kid, dog and dragon. Oh well, I'll just have to make my own tea - see you there.
I'll have my clubs as I am actually atempting to set up a round, I'll keep you informed.
Clays - yea, I don't mind wasting 50 cartridges and 50 clays !!!!
Do we have to book at the LLanbedrog shooting school ?
I'll leave you kids to go Scrambling, however if you fancy a bit of Trials Sectioning, I'm your man.

I've been reading about the activities in the North with great interest and hoping to get up there sometime next year and do some RIBing. Now you mention golf as well you've really captured my interest. Which courses do you play and what sort of handicaps are you ( that should give some ammunition to the p*ss takers).

Well done, John - do like a man who's got his priorities right. We've all got your mobile so we'll be in touch as soon as something is finalised.
Re: guns, not a problem if people don't have one, everyone's welcome to use my Beretta. May need to book at the clay ground but I'll give them a ring this week. They're a little bit more expensive than other grounds because you have to use their own sub-sonic cartridges due to noise concerns - they've apparently had numerous complaints from the sheep community who, I understand, have even got the local Plaid Cymru MP on the case

QUOTE P.s Wots Golf? QUOTE
Golf is a very shitty boring walk across boring looking fields turned into a bloody good laugh with a few other like minded chaps whose intention it is to get from a usually closed club house bar, to one which, by the time you've finished your walk, is open. Simple - an oh, by the way you intentioanlly set out to lose £10 worth of balls, your temper and have the piss taken out of you for getting it so dreadfully wrong - even with a 16 handicap (not).....

There is a course in Abersoch and a couple of others on the Peninsula, however they are not championship type courses and at the end of December wouldn't do much for your handicap.
Far better playing on ribs as you find no bunkers, unless you're close to shore but the water hazard in Cardigan Bay is a real bit*h. Also the A Frame can cause problems with your backswing.
I have found the GPS not so good for locating a golfball but the radar shows the trajectory well.
So best forget the golf and get your boat up here instead.
Enough 'P' taking gone on so no mention of my handicap, especially as I haven't played for a few years. But yes, I do have a set of clubs, unlike my rib status at this time.

...and here's another idea
For those of us with 4x4's (pay attention Jono,DM and Dr.John) and anyone else who's interested in sitting in, there's also the option of a day's off-roading at the renowned Landcraft off-road centre in Bala, Snowdonia, with the opportunity to get your shiny new Land Rover completely covered in sheep sh*t and mud. For the modest sum of £35 they let you drive your own truck over a wide variety of mountainous terrain and bog and you can choose the grade of difficulty according to your experience. Just a thought...

The golf sounds like a different diversion. Might dust them off and bring em along.

Welsh Winter Games
Yep, I'd be up for the offroading. We could also have a 4x4 tug 'o' war with one vehicle each side of the river. Are you up for that Jahno?
The clay pigeon shooting is a bit expensive so my suggestion is to combine the shooting and golf. Any skied balls get the chop but it's considered bad form to shoot the ball just as its rolling in the hole.

Splendid idea, Dave! So, that'll be a Nissan Patrol and Range Rover versus a Discovery TD5 and Ford Maverick. Gentlemen, place your bets.
