There is an interesting correlation appearing between RIBsters and the desire to play with 4x4's in muddy fields.
Here is a blast from the past... it's a shortended range rover, im on my 6th, maybe 7th now.

And another shortened rangie. I kept this beast on the road for 2 years looking like this and then got my £500 back by selling it on e-bay

Last pic... just spotted it and it makes me chuckle as to how we got this through TWO MoT's looking like this
The second year the started motor was full of seaweed and we we using a starting handle...which did nto amuse the MoT tester!

3500cc's, no problem.
It's supprisingly easy - we kept it like this all summer, the ultimate anti-theft device and caused loads of smiles on the beach.
For info, don't rely on this an a back-up on your £25k 2001 range rover boys and girls, they stopped fitting the starting 'dog' in 1974!!!

Well spotted, but have you noticed an even bigger correlation between Ribsters and people working in IT? Can't understand it myself, hate bloody computers.
ps. Andy, I take it you'll need some of us to try out your new off-road course on Saturday?

4x4 - 3x3
Having been forced to order a none 4x4 company car I'm now on the market for a 4x4 alternative. I definately don't want a Landy even though I know they can't be beaten or a suzuki samuri - Rangy or the like. I don't even want a tractor.
I'm after is something a little different. I've looked at these vehicles called Mules (used on golf courses and by the local council) but 2nd hand they're like hens teeth and from what I can see, very expensive (£5k new / £2k used ). I want to spend a grand or less.
I've also considered an ATV 4x4 say 600 cc but have yet to fully investigate this idea.
However, does anyone know of a company who make those 3x3 6 wheel drive vehicles like the Banana Splits used to drive.
Any other ideas would be welcome. I'll only be towing on private land so no m.o.t tax etc is required however, it has to be able to pull my 4.8mtr Zodiac through soft sand and of course out of the water.
Any thoughts ?
