Finally all done
I hunted around for a replacement Trianco (but a modern oil fired condensing one) and eventually bought from a large supplier in Plymouth (the boiler was delivered directly from the factory).
I went for this option because I didn't want lots of electronics to control the boiler, even with (or maybe especially with) a background in electronics and the internet was full of people complaining about lots of other makes with poor quality electronics.
