Reminds me of a story a few years ago - a bloke was actually put in prison for diving in a lake at a golf club and retreiving the balls. Not much justice there - the club claimed it was theft despite the fact they had never shown any intention to recover the balls. Of course if he had mugged some poor old lady to feed his drug habit he would have got community service!!!

I remember that story...

Thought it was very harsh.

He was performing environmental services : he deserved a few bob.

The club was only annoyed 'cos they couldn't sell peeps' lake balls back to them.

Entrepreneurial spirit.

Kids 'sell' lake balls all the time.

But he must have been making a few bob & it drew out the green-eyed monster.

Not quite legal but jail seemed a bit much!

Golf has NEVER appealed to me in any way - prob after witnessing all the sad Brits playing on a course carved out of a desert. The fairways were hard baked mud/sand - the greens were called Browns - made from mixing crude oil with fine sand and raking it. The T off point was tarmac with pre drilled holes for the golf Ts - and the sad gits would rush home from work to play on it!!!

The really weird thing about playing in those countries is...

you walk off a lush green setting and into what looks like a building site!

Like walking from blinding sunshine into a dark room...until you adjust!

... and realise actually the 'building site' is the true environment.

All a bit Star Trek (the simulation suite or wotever they used to call it ).

I am sure women are allowed to walk past the windows and enter the club. How else would the washing up get done?

It is the expression 'washing up' that I don’t truly understand I’ve heard rumours it goes on, it might even go on in my house but other than that it is a mystery as to what actually 'washing up' means
