Reports suggest the Ferry crew did a magnificent job.

It appears to have been a very busy day- Southend pier damaged by a barge, an historic ship was rescued after a mast was smashed in Devon. Well done to the RNLI and rescue crews

Hmmm. Does having a cig involve hopping over a rail?

Sounds like an "on purpose" job to me...

Remarkable job on the part of the crew!

Jeni Anderson tells story of survival after plunging from ferry into North Sea | Mail Online

interview with the woman

i remember another woman fell of a ferry on the near same route a few years ago and spent about 2 hours in the water ,she was rescued by an anchored ship that she drifted past and thankfully the guy on watch heard her shouts and rescued her ,
i could understand it happening on the way BACK from Amsterdam

Yup - I still think she climbed the rail. Drunk maybe, but those rails are high for me, and very high for most women. No way you fall over one by mistake.

Jeni Anderson, 23, from Bishop's Stortford, Essex, plunged from the Princess Seaway ferry, 20 miles off the coast of Scarborough

That explains it, blonde and from Essex.
