Party ideas?

My 21st birthday is rapidly approaching and I've pondering on what to do. I want to have a party for between 30 and 40 people. I've always had "house" parties for birthdays in the past, the trouble with that is the place gets wrecked. Fine when I lived at home and then in a student house (that said, the two birthday parties we had in that house cost us £450 in damage deposits), but I now have my own place with white walls and cream carpets so thats a no!

So, I'm after some suggestions. What makes a party memorable and enjoyable? Anyone been to/held a party in Portsmouth which was good? I want some sort of entertainment. (Not a stripper). I like the idea of a mobile casino.....any other ideas?

Do a google for Marquee Hire Hampshire, see who comes up number one. I bet he'll do you a heated marquee for a good rate!

Out in the blues......... I am working on highland safari next Saturday for few friend (matter a fact all of them on here) early morning pickup at hotel in highly modified 4 X 4 .... even flassy blue lights ..... direction taken out of town towards the adventurious glacier where driving conditions are at same time dangerous and endless fun.

Just to give you an idea..... well shouldn´t need damage deposit perhaps fully LDW coverage ......

I always enjoy Jelly and Ice cream at a party, well it keeps me happy anyway

There are some good places in and around Portsmouth that are available for party hire.

Boathouse No7 in the historic dockyard is actually free if you let them do the catering, which last time I asked was a reasonable £10 a head for a buffet.
They also of course have a bar, and don't have any problems with extended hours.

A completly different idea is Playzone at Cosham.
Don't laugh, they do Adult only evening hire with a bar for parties and corperate events. Obviously all the play equipment is available with I believe a disco in the background.

RIBase
Assuming good weather:-
Borrow a 16 seat minibus and a sound system of sorts, drive off into the middle of a forest miles from anywhere, light a fire and get the booze out.

If you're feeling really adventurous you could try hiring some lazerquest gear too...

We once threw a party in an abandoned mine. It was incredible - took a few petrol lanterns and had a nice fire going - even tried some indoor fireworks which was seriously cool. Now there's an idea - lease the mines we could make a fortune - especially for Haloween!!!

I have been to a party on a Thames Barge, was fantastic and a totally different experience. They are picky about who they accept.

I have also been to a party held in an Kids play centre for adults, was great but you got to have down to earth people and dressed appropriately!!

Asking people to buy their own drinks isnt a problem as you are paying for the location.

Depends exactly what you want to do and when you want it!

Try a canal narrowboat we are not picky Can recommend an excellent company who I am sure would give a ribnet member a discount on a charter

I find that shant and lots of it tends to go down rather well at a party.

As to a venue - haven't you got a local rugby club you can use? They tend to sell the key ingredient at favourable rates too
