phone scam

Theres a scam going around at the moment where a person will recive a telephone call saying that their BT bill is outstanding and unless the person pays a fee there and then by credit card the phone will be cut off ,that convincing one person said they were not a BT customer but are with virgin the person then says in a slight african accent that they rent the line from bt and cuts off the phone ,only when you stop trying to phone out he phones you back saying that unless you pay up by giving him your card details he will cut it off permanantly,

That's been around for a while. If it happens to you, ring your service provider from your mobile while the scammer has 'cut off' your phone and tell them what's happening(He's still on the line with the mute button on). If nothing else, they'll be able to kill his connection.

Slight Africans are well suited to this scam, as they can operate "under the radar", so to speak...
