Question about Ebay
I've only just started selling items on ebay this last week, it's a rather steep learning curve and one that I thought I was getting to grips with. However I have an item where I quite clearly state that I will only deal with UK bidders where a bidder is placing bids and he's based in Russia, he has no feedback and this smells of "scam".
Can I Barr this bidder from placing bids or do I have to end my auction early and disappoint all those other people that have placed bids?

You can cancel his bids but he'll still be able to bid again. You should be able to block him:

I've maganged to block his future bidding, so hopefully someone will out bid him, otherwise I'll have to withdraw item.

No you wont. Let the sale run, if he wins and doesn't pay in a 'legit' manner, report him.

Cancel his bids Andy, with the explanation he isn't in the UK.. Yeah, you could let the auction run, and if he wins report him if he doesn't pay, but that is a pita.. You have to wait four days before Ebay will accept a non-payment report, they then wait three days for the buyer to get in touch.. All the while your prospective UK bidders are looking at other sellers.. Plus Ebay will have charged you final seller fee's based on what his winning bid was, this can be refunded, after they have decided he is a non-payer..
He may be a genuine buyer, but, I bet he hasn't inquired about postal costs to send the item to Russia...

you can cancel his bids and it will reinstate the previous highest bidder.

The danger being, he could nip back in with another bid at the last minute. I'd not be keen on dealing with a buyer from Eastern Europe.

well there is a possibility of him using a fresh user name or ID and nipping back in moments before the auction ends.
I might just wait till just before the auction ends and withdraw it. That way I get none of the hassle of having to reclaim fees and worrying about - feedback etc.
I'd be in two minds then...Either approach the highest legit bidder and negotiate a price based on the fact someone he was bidding against was an undesirable. or just re-list it.

Possible, but unlikely I'd say. If you've blocked him, he'll know that you've sniffed a rat. He'll be off looking for someone less clued-up, if he's in the scamming game.

Edit your buyer preferences. You'll be able to block anyone overseas from bidding on your item once you cancel his bids

Question about Pay Pal....
...And bank charges.
I see that Pay Pal doesn't charge a fee for transfering my funds to my bank account. I can't for the life of me see on the Lloyds website what fees they will be charging me. Anyone got any Idea's, if not I'll ring them when I get home from work.

Is this for your personal account? (i.e. not a business account). Normally there are no charges for recieving BACS payments into a personal current account. Just as e.g. recieving your salary each month if that is how you are paid.

Yes it's for personal stuff Polwart.
My Salary is payed by Bacs and I don't get charged for that. When I transfered some of my funds from some ebay sales a couple of weeks ago I got charged for the transfer. Paypal say they don't charge, so the banks must. I'd just like to know what I'm paying for and what pricing structure they are using. I've searched the bank website on and off all day and haven't found an answer.

How much did you transfer? There used to be charges from Paypal for transfers to bank accounts under £50.I assume it's still the same.

I lied! It wasn't an ebay transaction it was a money transfer from one person to me. Still can't see where the charges came from and why I was charged them?

Was it sent by BACS? Or possibly by another method, like CHAPS (usually costs £15-20 depending on the bank, sender can decide who pays) or FasterPayments - not sure if there are fees for this with personal transactions?

You can waste a life away looking for a tiny bit of information on a website. But all sorted thanks Polwart.
The sender of the money must have used a credit card to fund the transfer, then lumbered me with the fee...3.4% +£0.20
https://www.paypal.com/uk/cgi-bin/he...y-fees-outside
I'll have to make sure this doesn't happen again, but luckily this time I'd slightly overestimated the postage cost and only lost a couple of pence.
Thanks for all your help.
