Mrs F and myself have always said January can be an odd month across many aspects of life, one we like to get behind us before moving on with the year's activities.

Quiet ATM. Not vastly unusual for RIBnet, although November used to be the super quiet month and it wasn't last season. Personally I tend to spend January mopping up the remains of last year and reflecting on how it went, followed by planning for the coming season. I have some small island cruises planned for this year, hopefully culminating in an overnight camp on some abandoned islet in the west. I'll settle for the Lower Erne if the wx fails me.

Having said that, I believe that discussion forums are bound to experience a decline in footfall, for a number of reasons. Facebook certainly facilitated a plethora of groups about every subject and hobby on earth. I'm in a couple and there is a lot of subject repetition and nastiness, possibly because they are difficult to search and to some extent, difficult to moderate. Every small niche boat group has newbies asking which anchor they should have...

As is evidenced by the evolution of Twitter to X, moderation has it's uses but while providing a 'safe' environment, it can reduce the entertainment value some find in ongoing feuds and ding-dongs. I've certainly noticed over the years that during the more heated periods, User logins rise until it blows over. It's to be expected. I console myself with the belief that Quality and Quantity are not the same thing.

Finally, it would help if Social Knowledge, the owners of RIBnet, would expedite the implementation of their decision to upgrade the forum software, allowing for more streamlined uploads of photos and video, along with a more modern GUI...

Yeah Tech Admin, I said it!

Too busy out on the boat enjoying some Winter boating in the warm and dry! I even gave it a bit of a clean...

We used to get some winter boating in when the old man had his hard boats and it always felt a bit special getting out this time of year. Happy for the SIB to still be on the shelf now though. I see you were dressed overall for the trip.

I did actually take them down for this trip given I went through the barrier into the unrestricted area so I could take it up to top speed (~23kn), but my orange seagull scarers are vital to prevent the boat from becoming the local toilet!

They all just unclip in 10 secs and drop into the anchor locker, but sometimes on very short trips I am super lazy and leave them up...

Why are they drying their nylons? Or were they on their way to a heist?
