A long memory can be a terrible curse. Sometimes I think I'd be happier living in the fuzzy, dopey "did I do/say/drink that" haze that some seem to

This Futaba radio is going to show up at my door tomorrow.
Below the black framed part is the drive unit that will be radio controlled, and mount under my SIB, with saddles made of ABS and thermo formed to the boat, that mount under the bow, which makes it radio controlled. I still need to hack the wheelchair control joystick so I have both controls. Not what the OP meant, but it is a radio controlled boat of sorts
The hitch carrier is to be mounted to the front of the wheelchair, yet removable, for hauling dive gear across the beach. Plus to give me a ride back to the vehicle parked at the top of the hill, at my favorite shore diving site.

Yeh. You could put a big engine in . Mount it centrally in something like a avon 340 rib sib thing

Wouldn't be hard to make most any boat radio controlled as long as it has steering cables, and throttle cables. If it is fly by wire you just have to hack the electrical system. If the boat has cruise control just hack the cruise control for throttle control. Shifting can be managed fairly easy too.
Please if anyone is actually going to undertake a project like this, use a PCM radio that will be more reliable. It will cost far more than the $26 radio I purchased off fleabay, but will be more reliable over a longer distance.

I Built 2 model Atlantic 75s though they were not R/C from scratch about 12 years ago using ply for the hull from an old wardrobe & pipe foam lagging for the sponsons ,
One was for display use at Rnli events the other one i gave to my lad that floated though it only ran at slow speeds as i just used cheap toy battery powered outboard motors .
The scale was dictated by the diameter of the foam pipe lagging then everything was just scaled up from that .
I once also made a very basic model of an Atlantic 21 about 15 years ago same size for use in rnli talks/presentations that was made to show how the re righting bag worked with the bag made from the stole of an old lifejacket .
