Removing sign writing?

Does anyone know the best way to remove the sticky stuff left behind when removing sign writing from rubbing strakes and hypalon?

Traffic film remover is good but quite aggressive, there are a few glue removers out there but dont use a solvent based one, try something like StickStuff remover.

3M used to make a product called Clean Art that removed overspray from their strong spray adhesives. It had benzene in it before we knew better!

Product has since been removed... but that was fantastic for this type of work. 3M do quite a few solvents for removing sticky residue. Think the only thing you can get here over the counter is 3M General Purpose Adhesive Cleaner, 1 Litre Tin

Goes without saying - to check small area first.

I was warned a few weeks ago to be careful with acetone anywhere near tubes. I bought some to clear some rubbish of the strake and boat cleaner warned me not to use it.

After testing:

Hypalon thinners
MEK
TFR
WD40
Acetone

The best so far is MEK, but I need to see it in the day light to make sure it's not marking the rubbing strake
