A highway reinstatement in the uk would be to a higher spec. The courses would be stepped and the finished wearing course would have to be overbanded with hot pitch to prevent water/frost ingress. It's also questionable as to how much compaction the wearing course received with one end of the plate compactor bouncing off of the cover rim and the other end on the existing material. ;-). A round cut looks neat, but gains nothing over a square one as it would be in the Uk. The mini patch planer is cool, but slightly unnecessary.
