Does anyone know who best to report dodgy food to?
I bought a bottle of soy sauce from Tesco and it smells more like a bottle of solvent...maybe toulene? (is Manos still around?)
The muppets at Tesco just wanted to give me a new bottle! They didn't seem at all concerned about it not being fit for consumption.
All I can think of is the Food Standards Agency (websites down atm), but it seems a bit excessive going to them... maybe the council Environmental Health dept?

Local EHO's will be just that - local - so if there is a UK wide problem it will take longer to find.
FSA deal with product recalls / issues on a national scale.
FSA are interested in imports etc and how those goods are traced to sale.
If it was a dodgy cafe or snack bar then EHO is appropriate but I don't think the EHO are best placed to respond to a sealed product sold in a supermarket.

Had a similar problem in a fast-food restaurant the other day, I asked for a rolo milkshake and got something that looked like machine cleaning fluid and did not taste too good.
Took it back to the counter and got a new milkshake and I spoke to the manager and she turned the milkshake machine straight off. And i heard no more....
I wonder what it really was may have being the same of what was in the soy sauce.
Or you could have had soy sauce in your Rolo milkshake.
I have once used gravy granules instead of instant coffee and used coffee instead of instant lemon tea.
It's incredible how long it takes to work out exactly what's wrong......you expect one taste yet get another equally familiar one in it's place. It's not unil you establish what you were expecting that the reality dawns. At no point do you hit your forehead saying "Doh, it's obviously gravy with milk and a teaspoon of sugar".........it's just plain weird.
