That might be a little unfair. I heard the extended version from RNLI so they were wearing wetsuits, and had bouyancy aids, although I bet they were cold. My understanding is that that two of the paddle boarders had gone on board the dinghy and it capsized as a result.

I've been out before from Stonehaven and seen paddle boarders heading down the coast. They don't realise the current outside the harbour bay and if they get tired, then they don't have many options with sheer cliffs.

Anyway - roughly this time last year RNLI called out to deal with a RIB that's possibly out of fuel? Takes all sorts I suppose.

NO ones suggests banning yachts when a WAFI breaks a mast or looses a 40 year old motor and they keep the orange boats busy too (who are generally always happy to put to sea on a clam warm day and go for a blast ) often round here at least, they are activated by over cautions bino wielding types who would rather a well intentioned false alarm than miss a real one. https://www.facebook.com/SARASharpne...70035426359184

Did someone suggest banning paddle boards?

Oddly people get just as upset about people “wasting the RNLIs time” as they do when the RNLI decide to close a station because it’s so rarely called out!

Let’s not drift into politics or I’ll have more desperate bilge pumping than the RNLI!
