SBS in Helos and RIBs

It was good to see our Boys in the SBS did the business again so well last night!
They had no idea what was awaiting them....but soon had things under control!
Making you're presence known Trying to Hijack an Oil Tanker only a few Minutes from SBS HQ in Poole may not have been the best of of ideas!
Well Done Guys!!

What makes you think it was a hijacking? It’ll have been planned by the crew & passengers from the get go. The passengers pay the crew in Lagos for “passage”, they get board & lodging for the duration of the voyage, the crew shout “hijack” as soon as they are in UK waters, the passengers get taken off by helo, claim asylum, job done, everyone’s happy.
Nice scam.

Some interesting perspectives there.

I'm only mildly surprised yer Glorious Leader wasn't first down the zip-wire wearing his teflon union flag shorts.

Not so sure about your theory.
Why would they bother to "hijack" the ship when they were already in UK waters and the ships Captain had already told them they would be handed over to UK authorities when they landed? This is what they want, surely?
And, if it was "near " to a hijacking, why would they risk imprisonment on perhaps, serious charges?
Doesn't make a lot of sense to me. Some info seems to be lacking.

I expect the situation has been known about for a bit and the appropriate response planned. How else would the RN have been able to get four working helicopters in the same place at the same time?

Maybe there would be implications for the captain for not handing over stowaways at the first available port.
Plus, if money has changed hands, the captain would be liable too. The hijack scenario absolves everyone.
It looks better for him if he appears to be acting under duress. There was a very similar case in the Thames estuary a couple of years ago.

I'm sure the "Details" will all come out in the wash as they say...
The fact that the Ships course was so erratic in the proceeding hours was the first indication something was seriously wrong, and may well indicate that the Crew was compromised?? ...reports eventually came in from the Crew of threats of violence which was enough for our boys to take the actions to resolve the situation
I hope to everyone's satisfaction!?
Mine certainly!!
