Ship Capsize

Hope it isnt too insensitive to discuss it, but looking at the bbc graphic of the ship in question, the design looks inherently unstable - how does a vessel with such a short keel and high freeboard stay vertical?

There was one in Cowes a few years ago and up close they look even more unstable
In the past they used to be ballasted with large round stones which would be taken out when a cargo was put in, but almost no amount of ballast would help with too many people on one side of that upper deck Des

In factsome people had the sense to get off as they thought it unsafe!!!

"Raymond Austin, from Kent, was one of a number of British employees of concrete company Delmon Readymix, who disembarked before the boat set sail.
His daughter, Rebecca, 18, told BBC News he and two colleagues had decided to take the employees off the boat because the number of people aboard had made them fear for their safety"
