Sites of Special Scientific Interest

Has anyone come across a site that lists SSSIs, and why they have been classified as such?

I've found some sites that mention them, or show a map of them, or sometimes give you a list of plant species, but can't find one single site that covers them completely - what, why, where etc.

Anyone else found anything similar or useful?

Sorry Des, should have been more specific.

I've seen that one - that's great if the SSSI is in England!! I was trying to find similar data for the whole UK, but specifically for Wales (at the mo).

Ahh the joys of devolution

You lucky Welshies now have your own authority for this in the form of CCW who duplicate all the functions of the English department but do it with a welsh accent and the best bit is that we all pay for this duplicated service (rant rant rant etc) Des

Will the usefulness of RIBnet ever fail to amaze me!?!?

Thanks Des - just found what I wanted on the CCW site. It isn't as clear or as easy to use as the English one, but hey, at least it's there!! (Twice, in fact...... )
