Be interested to know why. We skied Borovets a couple of times, the first on a "last minute" deal just to get the family out there and on the snow and the second time because they enjoyed the first!
I found that as long as you understood that it was all mob-money and mob-controlled and that you could live with the slightly lower standards of accommodation than you were expecting (but still acceptable) then it was fine.
Oh - the other thing was NEVER eat at the hotel. The food is always shite but there was always good alternatives in the resort!

You're smarter than you look Cookee. Those guys all received industrial rose tinted glasses when they bought their apts. It's a nightmare out there.

We looked at buying out there when (well, Borovets) when we first went there 3 years ago and decided there was too much mob-money, dodgy development and bullshit going on to spend any money out there. Shame, because it needs the investment but, as usual, it's all going into one or two very dodgy peoples pockets.

Most of the money is going to 'developers' coming up from Sofia. There are more brand new black Q7's, ML's,X5's out there than Kensington high street. The investment has certainly come via 31 million Euros of (our) EU money. The lies and BS that the Brits receive is staggering. Old commies don't suddenly make good business men.

Depends on what you mean by 'good'! Good as in decent or good as in making money? Sounds like they're doing quite well for themselves.

I don't think many Brits realise just how nasty some parts of the World can be. I was horrified when I read that the 3rd most popular place for Brits to emigrate to is South Africa - if only they knew!!!

If you can be bothered, check some of this crap out. Bear in mind that virtually all the Brit/American visitors that I spoke to out there would not return. The whole development issue is out of control. I did chuck a few 'hand grenades' in, but I've never come across a bigger bunch of ridiculously optimistic self-kidologists.

I just got back from my second trip to Borovets and I must say it will probably be my last. Bulgaria is getting quite expensive. Going to look elsewhere for next year.

Is that a ski trip, or are you clearing your stuff out of the flat so you can sell it?

IT's to finish off a few jobs and decide whether to flog it or let it. Might get a bit of skiing in if I'm lucky.
