Clean water on the South Coast - when?

Some years ago, the technical bod from Barrus was commissioning the engine in the willkcraft II. He asked why there was a ping-pong ball in the water strainer. Afloat he realised why: gin-clear water is invisible in a strainer and one can't tell if it's full.

Prior to that the willkcraft I gave me a bit of a shock on returning from lunch - see pic. Clear water again.
