Great thread, when do you think it'll hit the water & what will top speed be ?

I'm looking at sea trials by the end of the year, it won't be finished by then but should be by next season, going to do a new hood frame and bathing platform, it will be a balance between traditional and trick, apparently they have never seen another xps with twin 315 yanmars in. The talk is about 50 knots but we don't really know.
I have test figures for an xps with 4 cylinder yanmars in and that one did 37 knots, also a hawk with 6 cylinder yanmars in did 47 knots, the hawk is 11/2 tonnes heavier, so who knows, but with 630 hp in there it should go a bit, fingers crossed

Pretty deep Vee so should be good in the rough stuff, I've posted this to try to explain a little about hull design, this boat being deep will not like cruising, it will tend to fall off keel at slower speed, listing to one side, a classic case for trim tabs.
The deeper the Vee the more power you'll need to lift it out of the water, this is where the Chines come in, to give it lift, these come in all shapes and sizes, too big and you'll get a hard ride but more lift, too small the reverse, you can have reverse chimes like the ballistic, this will make a fast boat with lots of lift but a hard ride, there is always a trade off with all of the above and then you can throw balance of the build in as well, so don't think you can throw a console on a converted speed boat hull and get it right every time or at all

Dash and plotter pod is going back the same colour. Royal blue. As you know the helm wheel is bright red in keeping with the colour scheme

Of course. You couldn't buy one that shape. I've had the plotter paired up to my iPad today. Pretty good I can control the plotter from the iPad or the iPad from the plotter. I think the charts that I have on my iPad will transfer to plotter as well as any trips I plan while sitting in doors

Re. the console - did you have any thoughts of returning it to it's "classic original" state - or making it easily switchable to look like that?
