Supermoon

Took the camera out on friday evening and again tonight. The moon is apparently 14% bigger than normal, and turning out some big tides too.

As I am in a particularly good humour tonight, and well disposed to all men, I'm gonna pass on that one...

I don't think you can resist willk, it'll be like not chewing on a fruit pastel

Not only is the moon "bigger" we have experienced some extreme Spring tides.

Out on Sunday and there were people walking all the way round to Old Harry rocks from Studland. Habe not seen that before

The high pressure's kept them down quite a bit, I don't think we quite reached the 39ft HW that was predicted but apparently our low water hit 0.00 (chart datum)

Moon shots can be a touch tricky , as the moon is pretty bright but yet usually only fills a little of the metering frame.
So anything set on auto, is usually way off.
Set to manual- iso 100 F11 at 1/125 will usually get you in the ball park.

I was all ready for the "Big moon" only to get a thick cloud cover move in

Heres one from earlier in the year though
cheers Dal

tides can be fierce on this windpark and the HW at fleetwood when we sailed up t'other day was fx to be 10.8m.
been noticeable that with the hi pressure the tides have not been too bad on the flood but the ebbs have been awesome, a bow-wave around the turbines and naff all under the keel on some towers.. As we only have one ladder on the towers here it means that on the ebb we are coming in with it behind us and as soon as you get out of tru with the flow then the boat wants to swing round and you end up having to pick the turbine up as you rush past sideways, then if ya get it try and power round into the correct position. Makes for an interesting day. Good job we have had calm (albeit foggy)weather
