Ah, go on, I'll give you 3 guesses......
I think it's very unlikely that they bought it, my guess would be that it's on loan.

I think that is a top idea and a good way forward for the police… have you seen the size of your average traffic cop? Have you ever tried getting in and out of these?
And where do they stick the traffic cones ??? I have a idea.
Besides I bet they deprecate less than a Astra

In Swansea they have an unmarked Honda Civic Type R and a Mitsubishi Evo VIII both in black. They also have several expensive BMWs and Merc estates not to mention a new Range Rover and a Lexus 4x4 - oh and a Disco III and a BMW X5. They are most certainly NOT loan cars!!!
They also have a nice shiny helicopter that costs Ł5,000,000 a year.
Unfortunately the force is very short of money so they can't afford to have enough police on the streets. They refused to investigate an attempted break in at my house Christmas time as it would cost too much money!!!
And they wonder why people have no respect for them at all any more.........

The unmarked cars tend to get moved around between the forces, so that they don't get too well known locally.

They also had a 50th Anniversary special Super Blackbird a few years back-maroon with silver lettering- as an unmarked bike.
Swansea and Bridgend police do like their expensive toys. I took quite a few expensive unmarked bikes out to them while working for the people that built them as a subbie.

As stated by Toby. 'what on gods earth can that be of any use as'
Doesn't set a good example of prioritising funding when the Non Existent Traffic Cops have got flash sporty motors and and yet when someone is being burgled they might be lucky to see a normal cop the next day.
When I was subject to a crime all I got was a letter two weeks later and an advice sheet on counselling. Would rather have had a plod sniffing around for a few days asking questions and making people nervous. In fact I wouldn't have minded if he'd turned up in that sports car, as long as it was quickly. Might have made me feel as though my Tax Pound is being used wisely.
I'll get off my soapbox now.
