The election

This is my first ever election (where I can vote) - how exciting!
But, who should I vote for

Labour - country seems to be running well, but it's Labour (forgive me)
Tories - I could follow the family tradition but to be fair, their manifesto stinks!
Lib-dems - makes sence but no chance of getting in (OK OK thats a bad attitude). Their one big plus is that they say they will scrap tuition fees. Doesn't affect me as I'm the last year that won't have to pay them but I can see the argument.
BNP - I was given a leaflet the other day and some of what they say does make sence re. imigration.
Greenparty - the choice of many of my friends but it ain't for me.

So, lets have a political debate

I have always been proud to be British but I have to say the last few years has been the first time EVER I have wanted to live abroad.

Labour have virtually brought our country to a standstill with crackpot traffic calming schemes. Just drive around the rest of Europe and you will soon see that our so called "traffic calmning" does the total opposite!!!

Also don't get me started on the war in Iraq and the so called WMD.

As to the increased threat of terrorism and the reduction of our civil liberties to counter it hasn't anyone realised that Britain always had a really good rapport with the Arab countries until Blair started following Bush so blindly?

Also when Britain had a very real threat from the IRA and they were actually blowing people up in London Blair actually spoke AGAINST the introduction of more anti terror laws!!!

Not forgetting that until Sept 11th the Yanks actually supported the IRA!!!

‘Seems’ is the operative word, it is all Smoke, mirrors and spin. They have had 8 years to sort thing out and what have they achieved? Taken us to war on a lie and taken 270 parliamentary hours banned fox hunting

Don’t read the manifesto, no one does not even the party, anyway it is a pack of lies and double talk that you could read ten different ways and still be right

If the Lib Dems got in the shock would kill them and they really are too pure and white to be real. Also Charles K in very small, in fact extremely small, they have to use special lenses on the cameras just to be able to see him so how would he stand up to the big hitters in Europe who are general enormous

Yes but what are they going to do after they have thrown everyone out having only one policies makes it easy to remember but will give them 4 years with nothing to do until the next election

The greens are going a great job of F***ing up Germany with there well intentioned muddle thinking policies

So my advise is vote for me my policies are to bring back hanging and slavery, tax will be collect by a nice man coming to your door and asking if you wouldn’t mind giving a bit of money to help run the country. Policeman will have their area cars taken away and will be issued with light blue Morris 1000’s and all Gatsos will be ceremonially burnt Red diesel will be free to boat owners and anyone who is interested in the sea will have 40 paid bank holidays a year. And we will invade France because with the tunnel we could do it in a couple of hours, it would be a great place for a holiday if it wasn’t for the French and they make good wine that would be cheaper if we owned the place
Manifesto to come Des

I`m in a similar situation.

I've no idea which way I will be voting!

Tories seem a little lack luster.

Labour, well I HATE Tony Blair. A man who is the lapdog of somebody else is not a man!

Lib Dems - I have a stereotypical view that a vote for them is a wasted vote. However they do seem to be the middle ground in many of the main issues. But the stereotype still worries me!

BNP - Sorry not for me!

Green Party - Great ideas what about Iraq, Education, Crime and realistic expectations on environmental management? They are a perfect example of not understanding conservation and presevation. The local party here wants Heathrow closed and will not accept anything less. Is that realistic? What about the economy?

The Tories spent 15 years running the country down, then came Labour doing exactly the same!

Any party willing to banish/ban/liquidate from this green and pleasant land: Irish travellers, Russian and other East European mafia, caravans, Nissan Micras, Jamaican 'yardies', and the tv screening of athletics meetings. I would also vote for any party willing to instigate a stop and search policy on anyone with ginger hair and wearing a kilt.

Vote for anything apart from Labour. When you have finished your student days and start paying taxes, you will see what they acheived for people like me- sod all just less money in my pocket. As example in 7 years my counsil tax has doubled.....thats just the start of the list

If you want to confuse a labour MP ask him where all the money has gone
that thay have thieved by stealth taxes and raiding our pension funds

If you want to confuse a tory MP ask him to take you to his leader

And if you want to confuse a Lib Dem ask him what he will do if thay win

As for the rest thay are already confused

As for that so am i

Seems to me most people here are anti Labour - also most people here are reasonably well educated and earning reasonable incomes.

What REALLY gets me is that anyone can vote - Labour ALWAYS gets in in our area and yet the people haven't got a clue about what goes on in the world!!!

I think you should have to pass an exam to be allowed to vote - if you have no clue about the world around you and don't even bother watching a news now and then how the hell can you have a say in the way a country is run???

It's ironic that these are the people who are likly to be a bigger drain on the state!

To keep up with this trend it is therefore logical for a law (preposed this week by some human rights group) that allows prisions to vote....

Bring back Feudalism

The only problem with this idea is, it would only be the rich that could afford the education to be able to pass the tests.
Then there would only be one party “Conservative” we all know they have always made the rich richer & the poor poorer (come to think of it that’s exactly what new Labour are doing as well)
The only thing we can guarantee from any politician is they are ALL lying scumbags there to further their own ends.
Am I cynical you bet I am!
