The Knot
Both the missus & I suffer from what we call "The Knot" Just before launching the boat we both have this tightening in the pit of our stomach & a sense of nervous tension. We can't decide whether it's the stress, perceived or real, of launching the boat or the excitement of the trip out. As soon as we have the boat in the water & clear the slip, it all goes away & we relax. Anybody else?

Not me, Im only anxious pulling the trailer for the first mile or so. Just incase the boat falls off on our bumpy back roads or the bearings sieze up.
After that its just mounting excitement.

Would that make it a slipknot?
I generally only get the knot when I'm late coming back and know that the missus won't be happy with me!

Oh we are, I've learned to ignore it now after all these years, it just won't go away. Speaking of good times, we're just off to the neighbours for pre dinner drinks & nibbles, Pastis & freshly caught/smoked mackerel tonight

Yer! I get that. Once everything works and the boat leaves the slip/marina/mooring, everything changes and it's the BEST feeling.

I get a bit tense on a Scillies trip until I get the tent up and bed made. I've forgotten a few bits in the past, airbed bung being a fave.

Yeh I also get that feeling then when you float off the trailer and trim down the engine go to turn the key... and then you realise that the ignition key is still in the car

You are clearly just a beginner! When the "crew" ask - is it supposed to be filling up with water and your feet get wet... ...inside your wellies...
or you reverse off the trailer with the back strap still attached...
or you spend ten minutes doing everything to start it only to realise the kill cord is not connected...
or you've misconnected the throttle and gear cables so the more you try to stop the more it accelerates!
...and these things only happen with an audience
