Can the admin advise the reasons why we do not have this section any longer

Don't understand why they should take that stand as surely it's part of the trade membership benefits plus it's a good easy reference for members to access.

It was always free to be listed, so not tied to trade membership. These things take huge amounts of manual updating and editing though (as well as the software maintenance). And then people seem to assume the list is vetted or approved in some way, so disgruntled customers come and complain on the forums.
For some reason (and I am not just talking about ribnet here) people don't like to search / browse anymore and prefer to ask (I am in a Facebook group for my town where everyday someone asks for a recommendation for a plumber / sparky / joiner).

All points taken and understood. Why then if that is the 'management ' stance don't they change the banner tabs and drop 'trade directory '?

Message reads "Sorry, temporarily out of order"! Which would suggest that it's coming back at some point? Is this then not true?

As far as I know that is still the plan. It originally used some fairly heavily modified software that is no longer supported. When it became apparent that this was no longer secure it was decided to pull it while a replacement was sorted out.
It's one of a number of developments for RIBnet that have been a bit stuck in the pipeline for a while. I'll ask upstairs and see if anyone's got any news.

That's a listing of trade members, rather than a free-for-all directory. That may be what replaces the old Trade Directory here though.
I've asked head office about it and I'll let you know when I hear back.

Seems reasonable - IMO most members assumed that it was the same thing.

Still no word from above. I have asked that they remove the tab from the banner if they have no intention of reinstating the directory.

Kind of have to agree with that as I see no benefit to either regular members or new ones as it is completely misleading to the effect that they are offering a helpful resource which is non existent within the 'new' regime; but was one that was within the site when they took it over! I would have thought that they would have had some kind of moral obligation to continue the resources of the original site or develop it along the lines of feedback from members,
But that I suppose leads on to another point 'they' never ask for feedback from us.

Not done any looking and prepared to be shot down but if you have trade members should it not be an obligation to have a directory to help all?
