Twickenham Parking
Assuming Randski doesn't arrange a hitman to mug me for my tickets I'll be travelling to Twickenham for the 6 nations match 4th Feb. Anyone have any advice on parking at/near the ground ?
Thanks
Kernow

Free parking will be nigh on impossible. There are designated car parks along the 316.. Experience has shown, it is easier to drive up the 316, turn around at the roundabout closest to the rugby ground, and park in one of the grassy car parks. This way, your facing the right way down the 316 when you try and drive out.. If you do opt for the "free" parking on the side streets, be aware that after the match, the police will be enforcing a very strict one way system, and closing roads that normally make for easy access out of there..
Being rugby supporters, the car parks are quite civilised, with plenty of peeps quffing the champers and pimms whilst waiting to go and watch the match..

Good advise
Try and get there early Jeff, then you won't have to far to walk.

I used to live in Isleworth which is just north of Twickenham.
I would suggest you park on WORTON ROAD, just noth of the Stadium, near to the Royal Oak Pub.
Then where Worton Road crosses the Duke of Northumberland River follow the public footpath on the EASTERN bank down the side of MOGDEN SEWAGE WORKS. When you get to the end of the footpath the stadium will be in front of you.

If you park here it is free and if you cut through Whitton on your way out you will join the A316 at Hospital Bridge Roundabout and miss ALL the traffic!!!

Just wondering if people were aware WHY modern sports grounds etc etc don't have enough parking.
Apparently planning regs refuse to allow proper parking to FORCE people to use pubic transport!!!
Of course what REALLY happens is that people use their cars anyway and streets for miles around get clogged up!!!
Has just happened in Swansea with the new Morfa stadium - 20,000 seats and 750 parking spaces - of course it is causing chaos all around as everyone said it would......

Only if you get there 3-4 hrs before the match.. My sister lives on Worton Road almost opposite the Royal Oak, and parking is terrible there at the best of times.. Nice riverside pub though..

OK this is a little bit spooky. I used to live opposite the Royal Oak Pub number 95 to be exact!
Normally the traffic is pretty good is to get out through Whitton but if it look bad I suggest you use the pub to its full extent, cept the driver of course!

I think Twickenham has been there for a wee while Codders
It's an intereting point Our footie club tried for 5 years to build a football stadium on the outskirts of town in an established playing field area. Bang on the junction of a Motorway, with an Airport and Rail links only1/2 mile away. The railway and airport both having impressive parking facilities which are motly empty on a Saturday
Could they get planning permission, not on your Nelly. in the end they built it on the site of an old gas works Bang in the middle of town. very inconvenient every other Saturday. But at least it won't be too far for the Pompey fans to travel for the local derby next year.

Your assuming that the saints will stay up Stuart..
Twickers had the chance to buy a huge tract of land adjacent to the rugby ground for parking, and were outbid by tesco's..

We have parked in Meadway a number of times. It's free and you can get straight out on the 316.
http://www.multimap.com/map/browse.c...x=294&down.y=4
Close to the Prince Blucher (Fullers) for a few pints or alternatively enjoy a decent lunch away from the rugby crowds at The Thames Court at Shepperton and work your way in through Lower Sunbury and Hampton and avoid the massive queues on the 316. You can easily get in the ground within 45 minutes from the Thames Court.

Yeah it's difficult to be impressed, lotalty however is required! I am so glad we managed to fob HR off to Portsmouth. If only Rupert Lowe and Clive Woodward would take over the management of the English Rugby team we could get on the road to recovery
Whatever happens with the Saints I guess the forthcoming Welsh victory will give me some solace!
