Oh my...I have happily worked on my house from 7:00am until 10:00pm, running saws and everything in between. Only time I have ever received a complaint, which came a month after and in passing conversation, was my neighbors mother went to bed at 7:00pm.
Funny that the USA with ALL it's restrictions is actually more lenient than the UK.

That's DIY not a commercial activity. Though glad I'm not next to you. Saws at 7am, I'd knock on your door!!

HP - UK rules make no distinction between DIY and commercial - although I'd suggest neither are strictly observed and its only sustained activity (which tends not to be DIY) that will get attention from the "authorities". If you want peace I'd suggest moving to a detached house in the countryside somewhere!

If the work has been subject to planning permission, sometimes that will have site days and times specified. Just look up planning on your local council website - most of them have it all online now but you might need to wade through the documents to find it.

The house next door, if you can call it that, is not very close, and her bedroom is far from my working area. To knock on my door you would have passed 4 NO TRESPASSING signs, and 4 video cameras. Someday I will move back to a place where I have no neighbors to worry about at all.
