Unknown Boat

Not a rib but this boat has been under a tarp at a local garage that has now been closed for a number years. The boat has been there at least 15 if not 20 years so no idea what it could be, Has quite a purposeful looking Hull though...

Looks like it might be a fairey of some sort. Swordfish possibly. Beautiful boats IMHO

Fairey Huntsman

Looking at the cowlings on the superstructure would say the Huntsman 31 ??

Would be a very nice boat if restored

Or could be a fantome! Check out faireyownerslub.co.uk

Whatever it is I've always loved faireys. They have that sixties, e type, rakish moustache, Graham hill kind of vibe.

Its a Spear or Spearfish, Found a picture of what looks to be the exact boat here via the owners club however I dont think they are the same as this one has been on stilts in Gloucestershire for a good 20 years wheras the one on the picture has a website address on the back so I doubt it is 20 years old. (could be wrong of course !)

Bizarre,

I surveyed "Juno", a Fairey Spear, for her previous Owner about 4 or 5 years ago. Straight from MOD and then refurbished for use as a sea school boat - as she is in the photo at sea above.

Sold on a couple of years later.

Looking at the two sets of photos it looks like the same boat - but can't be if she's also been laid up ashore for 10-15 years!

For information purposes

1 Juno is a Fairey Spear
2 She has been in her present position since December 2008 transported by Fairey Logistics
3 She is the spear surveyed by sea rider and the in the F.O.C photograph
4 She is ashore for a re-fit
5 She is not for sale

If you are the Emma I am thinking of then I remember playing kiss tag with you at Blueboys school

I can remember a boat being up at the garage for years, perhaps its my memory playing tricks.

Hope you are well

Chris Stevens.

Just goes to show how a boat can get grubby with 3 years lack of use!

Emma - what are your plans for refit? Always plenty to do on an old Fairey!
