MARINE NOTICE No.2412 of 2005 SHANNON NAVIGATION
WATERWAYS IRELAND WISHES TO ADVISE ALL MASTERS AND USERS OF THE SHANNON NAVIGATION THAT THERE WILL BE EXTENSIVE LOW LEVEL FLIGHTS OVER THE LENGTH OF THE RIVER SHANNON ON THE EVENING AND NIGHT OF 24/25 DECEMBER BETWEEN 20.00HRS AND 04.00HRS. MASTERS OF ALL VESSELS ARE REQUESTED TO SWITCH OFF ALL FORMS OF ELECTRONIC NAVIGATION EQUIPMENT INCLUDING GPS AND RADAR EQUIPMENT WHICH MAY CAUSE INTERFERENCE TO THE NATURAL NAVIGATION SYSTEMS OF AIRBORN REINDEER AND SLEIGH TYPE CRAFT. NAVIGATION LIGHTS SHOULD BE SWITCHED OFF IN CASE THEY ARE MISTAKEN FOR AERIAL BRAN REFUELING PLATFORMS. WATERWAYS IRELAND WISHES TO ADVISE ALL MASTERS THAT STRANGE LIGHT PATTERNS MAY BE OBSERVED FROM TIME TO TIME IN THE SKY BETWEEN THE HOURS OF 2000 AND 0400 BUT SHOULD NOT BE ALARMED. CHILDREN OF SAID MASTERS MAY BECOME EXCITED AND GIDDY AND SHOULD BE PUT TO BED EARLY. IN THE INTEREST OF PUBLIC SAFETY ALL FIRES SHOULD BE EXINGUSIHED BY 1900 ON THE EVENING OF 24 DECEMBER. THIS MAY PRESENT NAVIGATION DIFFICULTIES TO STEAM POWERED VESSELS. SANTA CLAUSE WISHES TO TAKE THIS OPPORTUNITY TO THANK ALL GOOD LITTLE BOYS AND GIRLS AND WISH THEM A VERY MERRY CHRISTMAS, BUT WISHES TO REMIND PARENTS THAT IF SANTA'S ASS GETS BURNT THEN THERE MAY BE SOME DAMAGE TO CHILDRENS PRESENTS ON ROUTE DOWN CHIMNEYS.
ALL VESSELS SHOULD APPRECIATE THE AERIAL DISPLAY WITH REVERENCE AND CHILDREN OF SAID VESSELS SHOULD NOT WAKE THEIR PARENTS TOO EARLY ON 25 DECEMBER.
FURTHER INFORMATION MAY BE HAD FROM THE INSPECTOR OF LOGIC
