VHF course this saturday 29th
I am doing a VHF course on Saturday 29th in Cowes, if anyone needs to do one of these then let me know or if you are going on the course anyway from the UK we can arrange to travel together if that works, course is all day and very reasonably priced. I will travel over by ferry foot passenger unless you are going by boat and i can get a lift,,,,,,,,,, if a second person comes with me on the course we can get it really very cheap

Mine was over 2 days, I ached trying not to laugh as some of the old boy fishermen tried to master the simulated transmissions. That was a while ago, I think the instuctor was called Marconi.

Did our VHF course on saturday with Tim Griffin and it was a great day. Started off with a trip in Roger and Pauls Stinger from Ichenor to east cowes Marina, then on to the course, spent the day there, then a couple of beers after to celebrate then a nice trip back to Ichenor.
Big thanks to Tim for the course and i can thoroughly recommend going there for a course, very inexpensive and tremendous value for money, and a Big thanks to Roger and Team for the trip there and back
a great day i must admit.

Did mine a while ago - along with powerboat level 2 and first aid - will be doing the advanced shortly.
Still say experience more important......
VHF course was just going through the motions - I already knew most of the theory - would have liked more practical radio speak but most of the course seemed to be teaching us the wonders of DSC - anyone who can use a mobile phone will grasp the DSC part in about 10 mins!!!
What amazed me were the people doing the course - there were only about 3 of us with boats or even wanted boats - the others were just doing the course for fun or something to do - they obviously weren't paying.....

funny you should say that cos i am wondering what name to give the boat as it is a bit tricky on the radio, not used the potential name yet so need to come up with a name for the boat me thinks!!!

no problem chris, good day made even better that we all passed. Mind you, it did seem a bit complicated at times. Did you go out the next day? We did, bloody freezing.
