video editing

Morning.

i have a few short video clips from the weekend (each file a few hundred meg in MP4 format) and looking to make them smaller so i can upload them to facebook / youtube sorta thing.

anyone got any suggestions of software that can do it considering i am a bit simple!?

would also like to be able to clip some of the videos to make them a bit shorter?

many thanks

Microsoft supplied a free video editing package as standard with XP (called something imaginative like "MS Movie Editor" - which I've used for that sort of stuff successfully (not sure if I've edited MP4s but would expect it can cope). Not sure if thats still included in Vista/Windows7. If you want to do anything fancy there are probably better packages but to cut, join, resize, add titles it seemed to work fine - and was pretty intuitive.

I'll second Polly on that MS Moviemaker thing. It's not bundled with Win7 but is a free download from MS. I got it this weekend and had a video on Youtube in a couple of hours, it's so simple that even I could use it

(It has an automatic uploader for Youtube )
