video's on threads problems

Have just sat down all excited with my new computer and broadband connection and have been looking back at some of the threads with videos that I couldn't previously view. Gutted to find they play but look like they have been filmed with a thermal imaging camera ie they are all orange reds and purple colours. The computer is trying to play them using Windows Media Player 9, does anyone out there know why this is happening / what I need to change to put it right?.

Sounds to me like your video settings are not set for a high enough resolution and/or color depth (actually just color depth.)

Assuming you're using a Windows machine:

Right-click on an open area of the desktop

Select Properties

Select the Settings tab

Select the Color Quality you desire (higher color depths require more computing power, just so you know.)

You may need to reboot after changing it.

It could also be a question about using the right codex to view to movie clip.

Try going to : www.divx.com and download the latest codex. It seems to cover the most used ones.

Regards
Rene
