Can't understand why a law abiding citizen would want to use such a browser. Surely you'd only use this if you had something to hide?

Why what's wrong with the right to privacy. I don't like the idea of security organisations doing the Big Brother on me.

I'll go and put the tin foil on me ead

Nothing wrong with the right to privacy! But if the authorities are out to get you and have you in their sights I doubt that using this type of browser will stop them spying or gathering information on you.

Fair point H, it might even be the CIA, NSA MI5/6 who have set up these so called secure browsers anyways.

I'm assuming that because you run your business online that you have a concern about fraudulent use of online accounts etc?

I reckon that you should look at web usage like cars or boats. You can buy/employ measures to stop people from stealing it, but if they really want it, they'll find a way of having it.

As much as I hate insurance, make sure your covered and use credit and bank accounts that protect against fraud.

The problem for authorities is there is too much data. By getting those that have something to hide using a 'secure' network, they can focus their attention. If I was any if the above organisations, that's what I would be doing.

I'd tend to agree with Kerny and HTs replies. If you have no idea who is providing the hardware for the proxies and so on, why would you trust them with every byte of data you send? Bear in mind who's likely to be using this service alongside you...

If it's personal data you're worried about, I think the real risk is what YOU do, not what your ISP does. The usual stuff:

Be careful with your waste postal material - a lot of VERY personal data gets dumped in refuse sacks outside your front door...
Be careful what data you send by email (anyone at your ISP can read them)
Be careful what websites you visit (link clicking discipline!)
Run good Security Software
Don't use shared computers for important browsing
KEEP YOUR KIDS OFF YOUR PC!
