Thread has sort evolved away a bit from the original post, hasn't it? Into an area I'm just umming and ahhing about. I'm not buying all these tools at once anyway. I'll start by cutting boards for the cat enclosure and see how we go.

What you could tell me is if a table router is appreciably safer to use than a hand one.

I am learning what rabbeting is right this minute. I think one doesn't need a router to do this, but if you have one for other purposes, rabbeting could be something else you could do with it.

All advice much appreciated chap.
