Where to sell a boat??

Anybody got any good places to sell boats?

Have advertised my Fletcher on gumtree and various Facebook pages so far.

I know the obvious being here but it's not a RIB, and also ebay but ideally don't want to pay to advertise or commission.

Ybw also Only let's you advertise upto £400 for free.

Thanks in advance!!

Just being cheap scape.

Sold all my previous boats no problem using free sites so why waste money?

Just wanting to see if there were some I didn't know/hadn't thought of

Over this side of the pond we have a site called boatsales.com.au the prices they charge are quite high but each time Ive sold a boat Ive paid the high prices to advertise on the site.

At the same time I put the same add on gumtree which is where all my buyers have come from. Ebay and paypal rates are to high in my opinion amd Gumtree wins hands down

Sold my last boat for the asking price and the same price I bought it for 3 years earlier. And the one before that I sold for the price I bought it for too.

Ebay is still a huge marketplace if you want to sell something. Just sold my SIB on there for around £1500. Hundreds of views and sold in a week for a fair price to a genuine cash buyer.

Quite happy to pay Ebay a £30 cut out of that for the exposure and quick sale.

There's normally a network of buy swap and sell sites through facebook too, my kids seem to know more about all these sites and soon get rid of anything I no longer have a use for with these sites.

Ebay is ok on low price items but when you are selling a boat for $40000 then the fees become a different kettle of fish.

Classified on eBay for a boat (classed as a motor) is <£20. Auction is 1% final value + about £15 listing. Think Max £35 final value. So should ever cost more than c£50.

Luke, you didn't mention boats and outboards? Theres so many scams there it might not be worth it any more but it used to rank well on Google. If I was buying I'd look on apollo duck because I think it represents a buyer who knows a little bit more about boats and seems to be less scammy. You can't beat ebay and gumtree for exposure / coverage though. People moan about fees, but twenty years ago you'd have paid more for a two inch advert at the back of a magazine read by a tiny number of people months after you sent it in. Obviously if there's a Fletchers owners group or even boatmad might be worth a try...

Where to sell a boat

I advertised my RIB for sale on Apollo Duck in early July I had circa. 6000 views only one phone call which led to a viewing and a sale all completed in approx 4 weeks.

Tried eBay, gumtree, boats and outboards, several groups on Facebook, even the local post office!! Nothing.

Ended up selling it on a internal police database! Got a good price and sold it without any hassle!
