Working Hours

Possibly quite relevant to many here!!!

http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/uk/4535815.stm

Good old Labour - they have done it again!!!

"A rule which allows workers to choose to put in more than 48 hours a week may end after MEPs voted to scrap it."

"ut the vote saw Labour MEPs oppose the UK government line and side with many Socialists, Communists and Greens in backing the changes."

The Unions think it is great - shows just how much they REALLY care about people!!!

How dare ANYONE dictate to someone like this - if a person WANTS to work extra hours to have a holiday - buy a rib etc etc then LET THEM!!!

Once again Labour's attitude is "we know what's best for you little man".

I Dont think this legislation is to stop people working on extra few hours to buy a rib or go on holiday. It to stop the money grabbing boss that open business all hours and dictate what hours the staff work with little or no option for reward(pay)

Here here.

Codprawn If you read the article properly it states Euro MPs some of whom may have been Labour passed this bill AND it also states that the UK Government is against it and will be opposing it. In any case nobody is stopping you working on Tesco's Checkout as a second job

The reason we have a Labour Government now is down to the totally inept performance of a bunch Tory non entities at the election trying to gain cheap votes on Policies that don't really matter what we need is a real alternative to Labour. "are you thinking what we're thinking"

How about a new party for the next election how about Ribnet party JK for PM Policies could be:-

1. No VAT or DUTY on Fuel for ribbing

2. Compulsory Power Boat training for boat ownership

3. Longer Ribbing weekends (oops does this mean shorter working hours)

I'm sure that you could all add more pertinent policies lets see ya suggestions

Nemo ,those bosses dissappaered at the end of of WW1. - its now the opposite - its the workers who want to get away with doing the least amount of work for the maximum amount of money. Oh and don't; forget who provides the jobs in the first place?? - if people are not happy with their lot - nothing stops them to create their own job.

Wind tax on wind farms, which would "accidently" include other users of wind ie yachties

I have been in the situation where I HAD to - repeat HAD to work very long hours to clear debts and support my family - I was VERY greatful of the chance to do that - I worked 84 hours a week for about 2 years - hard going but it got me out of the shit!!!

Why should ANYONE who is earning £120,000 a year and i9s not hourly paid DICTATE to people who desperately need the money??? Bloody socialists attitudes stink - do they REALLY know whats best for someone facing bankrupcy or having their house repossesed???

Alright maybe things like this shouldn't happen but this is the REAL WORLD. having been in the situation myself I know what it is like!!!

I have friends with Ferraris and Aston Martins who would NOT be effected by this - I have friends who work in petrol stations or as security guards who would!!!!
