£1 a week, only take 1980 years to pay it off!
They said "they had an experienced crew aboard" but clearly they left their common sense at home

Well I think it was another bad call on his part, I don't think it would have cost as much if he pleaded guilty in the first place, , you've got to question his sanity and wonder how he ever got where he is if both of these monumental cock ups are anything to go buy

I don't think anyone is gloating at others misfortune. I just think a lot of people we gobsmacked at his plea of not guilty, and are pleased that in their opinion justice has been served. Well guilty verdict anyway. Guess it's down to opinion if a £3000 fine is deemed suitable punishment if in deed he ends up not paying his legal costs.........

If indeed he's not liable for his costs, then he'd nowt to lose by pleading not guilty

When I used to work for the Civil Service there used to be plenty of privileges offered though work but not connected to work. Legal advice was defiantly one, not to sure about costs though but I am talking 20 years ago.

have a look at a reconstruction of the tracks of the two vessels. I can see his point about expecting the ship to turn - it was right down on the southern end of the restricted area and would have to turn to starboard to come up to Fawley.
Unfortunately we've only got the tracks of the two vessels and not all the other traffic.

100k costs is rather excessive considering the evidence that was available to the prosecution! (regardless of who pays it!!)

Sounded like he was turning to starboard just before.
