Carson RIBS are highly respected as safe, seaworthy and fast heavy-duty vessels that are widely used in the commercial and military markets and have been sold in over twenty countries worldwide. Engaged in operations from the Artic to the Antarctic in a wide range of duties including diving, rescue, navy, port authorities, law enforcement and special forces to name some. Many private leisure enthusiasts have also enjoyed the benefits of owning a Carson Rib.
Designed and built by Carson with many defining features including a unique gull wing hull design with square flat bow tubes. The deep V hull has pronounced chines and spray rails which provide a very stable and dry ride. Additionally the “pram” bow helps prevent stuffing in heavy seas thanks to its great reserve buoyancy that lifts the boat over large waves. This feature also provides more useable forward deck space and allows the operator to shunt other vessels and load/offload personnel over the bow.
This boat has been stored unused for about 5 years. I had intended to refurb myself, but other events have taken over my time. It will require a small amount of simple maintenance to the controls and replacement of the plywood hatch recessed in the fibreglass deck that covers the under deck storage locker.
In my ownership I made and fitted 2x2person upholstered seating consoles with stainless steel safety bars. These are past their best and a new owner could use the previous structures as patterns to simply fabricate replacements and reuse the stainless safety bars. Thus, the foredeck space is presently clear.
Standing console at the stern housing all controls, electrical wiring and fuses, main battery isolator and switches. Two hatches for access to battery, storage and electrical distribution.
Large buoyancy compartment at the stern balances the weight of the engine and mounts the water separator and fuel filters.
Under deck are 3 powerful bilge pumps, 2 automatic and one switch controlled.
Substantial stainless “A” frame at stern with fitted nav lights, deck light, vhf aerial, radio loudspeaker and GPS aerial for GPS map 182c. 1x55l and 3x25l fuel tanks. 4 lifting eyes and 3 deck cleats. Large Danforth anchor, chain and warp.
Engine in good condition with new propellor. Good compressions and runs well but not having been used recently most likely would benefit from service attention.
5 separate chambers in laced-on polyurethane tubes with no apparent air loss in the last 3 months.
I have had the boat since 2000. Until 2012 it had steady use and since then occasional.
R.M trailer maintained in good order single axle braked. Brakes believed to work, wheel bearings all ok.
Looking for£6,000 but open to offers.
