Bayblast choose Parker Ribs

This week Bayblast Marine of Herne Bay, www.bayblast.co.uk ,take delivery of their very first diesel powered rib. This being an all Black Parker 900Baltic fitted out for Seasafari trips. As high speed is not critical the rib is powered by a single CMD 320 HP inboard engine. Seating for 2 crew and 12 passengers of which 10 on jockey seats and 2 on a bench seat which is incorporated into the Neptune console. A bathing type platform on the transom is used as a stowage place for a liferaft.

Parker Ribs are a front runner in the production of 9 mtr ribs for Seasafari adventure trips or the so called "white knuckle rides"

Interesting looking bench seat for the driver Andre.

Not seen that on a Parker before. Is it new?

No we have done it before . This is a special bench type seat on the engine box for the crew. This is the only way to accomodate 12 passengers on a 9 mtr diesel rib

Hi Pete

B3 is fitted. We tested B1 & B3. I will post the results on Monday from the office as I don't have the data here with me.

Celtic Vodka Parker 900

Had the Rib 2 days now and very pleased with it, when over to Southend yesterday in a good meter and a half braking swell I don’t think it notice it, very quite, very smooth and stable. Took 12 friend from the pub out in the afternoon and still manager 30+ knots with out thinking about it

2 tests were carried out

TEST 1
Bravo 3 drive 1:81, prop 26"
it took 4-5 seconds to reach 2000RPM and then the turbo charger engaged and the rib got up into plane
High speed turns were carried out maintaining a constant speed of 30 knots

with 2 persons on board
it is possible to over rev the engine 4100+ spare power : 40 knots

3900 RPM - 38.9 knots
3000 RPM - 28 knots crusing speed
2500 RPM - 20.7 knots

with 12 persons on board we found that the engine achieves max revs for this engine type : 3900 RPM

top speed dropped to 36 knots
at 3000 RPM the speed dropped to 25 knots
at 2500 RPM speed was 18 knots

TEST 2
Bravo 1 drive, 1:50, Revolution 4 prop 23"

2 persons on board

with 2 persons on board similar result to the Bravo 3

at 3900 RPM 38knots
at 3000 RPM 27 knots
at 2500 RPM 18 knots

then a test was carried out with 8 persons on board (not everybody enjoyed a blast in freezzzzzing temp) (I was not present at these tests )

at 3700-3800 RPM speed 34 knots
at 3000 RPM speed 25 knots

to maintain a a good planning position the revs had to be held above 2500 RPM
at 2700 RPM speed 21 knots
