I don't think the AA has a length restriction. Pretty sure everyone else has.
Green Flag and RAC certainly both have length restrictions.
I contacted the RYA about this and they in researched it. It does look like the AA are the only answer.

Trailer or load length? They've recovered my 7.8 on it's trailer before, but I think the trailer is probably only 7m. It came back on an artic.

The 7 meter length restriction is likely in place because that's the legal length for on road towing up to 3500kg (Kinda covers 'normal' road trailers).
Mr Ashtonmarine sells trailers so I'm guessing he knows that and he's looking for a commercial trailer recovery service.

I asked the AA the exact same question...and he assured me with The Top insurance (which I get free...or at least a perc from a select Bank account) they would defiantly ALWAYS make sure that they'd get you and your passengers plus Boat/Trailer to you're destination.
Good to know when you travel/tow from Somerset to the Highlands Pretty often
This was a couple of years ago so might be worth checking again I suppose.

I've been recovered by the AA in a defender 110 with a 4.4m SIB on the roof (inflated) plus a ribcraft 6.5 on tow. Whole lot recovered to central london with no questions asked. RAC at the time stated they would not recover the trailer.

i can confirm that green flag will bring a boat on trailer total length was 7 metres .from the Scottish highlands to Teesside while I carried on in my truck without question it was relayed through a couple of independent company's and took about a week to cover the 400 odd miles. at an overall length of 7 metres it only just fitted on the back of the recovery truck which is probably why they have a 7 metre limit as most recovery trucks are the same

AA. I've had many recoveries over the years (several of which would be classed as part of commercial activity), never had an issue other than sometimes the amount of time it takes them to arrange a suitable recovery vehicle. Last time was around 6 hours to arrive a low loading arctic (8m RIB on massive trailer). I've even had them recover the boat out of the water - good company to be with.

I always thought the issue for =<7m trailers was not so much the length but the "recovery" of the trailer...
Your car breaks while towing - they can put your car on the truck and tow the trailer behind.
Your trailer breaks but the car is fine - some companies seem to (anecdotally at least) have had issues recovering the trailer any further than to a place of safety...

I took out cover from them over the phone and I was deliberately misled. I was told "we will recover any trailer you are lawfully towing with a car"
When the policy came through I read the small print and that trailer length covered was very restricted and plainly not what I'd been told. I phoned them about it and they conceded they would NOT recover my trailer (6.5mtr rib about 8mtr overall.).
So...to cut a long story short.... they refunded my payment and waived the cancellation fee.
