That's looks good, I use a thyron mobile unit at the moment and its been pretty good for the last 2 years or so.
I take it it will do chip and pin aswell rather than just a signature?

No idea, I am researching it and need things like that answered. I have a trial card payment scheme for four months with world pay that is as pay as you go with a proper reader and app attached to a smart phone BUT iphone wont licence it at a workable price so have a second phone for card reader.
This Izettle appears a good way forward but client needs to be present I guess whereas I want a payment without person present

I signed up for the Worldpay credit card trial as well, expecting the card reader to turn up next week. The main problem I see with izettle is they don't appear to accept Visa credit or debit cards.

Yes it is via the FSB. Took around two weeks for my application to be accepted.

iZettle is a very clever application that currently works on ipads and iphones and has been trialed to great lengths in the Nordics. I got to see it in action last year and was very impressed. I am just waiting for the zettle hardware to be delivered to me and I will start using.

The other big name in the mobile market for payment is Square but this is North America based at the moment as they do not use chip and pin tech.

Looks like there are quite a few new packages arriving on the market. The main issue for a lot of us is that we are classed as small businesses and we can have long busy periods and then it quietens down over winter, so the monthly contract pay systems work out very expensive.

The product that several of us have found on offer for trial is through the FSB and it is a pay as you go and no contract. Card payments are on a proper card reader and can be done in clients absence. The costings work out very favourably so we will report how we find this process and if it works we have to hope the trial can be rolled out.

Presently card payments on line are expensive in comparison.

How is gocardless working out. I assume looking at it I can take payments over the phone and not see the customers/credit/debit card.

The Worldpay chip and pin needs the card holder present so this has reduced my capabilities so looking at other additional solutions

Go cardless and google checkout allows you to email folk a payment link and for then to pay in line.

You can also set up pre-authorisation on the customers account, SI you XS take variable amounts of each month in gocardless - first payment can take 7 days to process though, plus side £2 is highest commission or 1% what ever is lowest !

I use kashflow for my invoicing and it has a gocardless option on each invoice.

only using in for few weeks but like it!

Cheers for quick reply I will work through GoCardless and see if this helps. The trial of WorldPay chip and pin machine has only just begun and is only four months at present, but again no set up charges or contract period, fees are very good also but client has to be present so may not work too well as we take bookings first

Both C2ribs (Ian) and ASL Marine (that's me) are trying this one. My terminal arrived today and I've set it up and tested it. Seems to be very easy to use. Credit card receipts can be sent to the customer via SMS, email, or you can give them a hand written hard copy using the supplied carbon copy book of receipts. Can only be used with the customer present (but that's fine for my needs). If you need to take payments over the phone this one will not be suitable.
