Coding a Tender - Necessary or Not?

Here's one for the coding experts and surveyors...

If I wanted to transfer paying passengers from a beach to a coded commercial boat in a substantial tender (think ex RNLI D Class size and spec), would the tender need to be coded in the eyes of the MCA?

Naturally, safe systems of operation and insurance etc would be in place as per the 'big boat'.

I'm sure this was discussed before and the answer is the tender is coded as part of the parent ship but for short trips like that doesn't need coded separately.

Look at Section 24 of MGN280.

Poly is correct on that front. Just check your tender has the correct kit on board. It should get inspected at the same time as the mother vessel.
