I need a good Jet skippers help
Hello, I am doing a contract which is quite well paid. The problem is I need some time at home and cannot find a relief.
Can anyone who is looking for work please contact me, but only if you have jet experience.
The rate is £150 per day and the work could be for about 4 weeks.
Thanks

I'm not interested but dates, location of work, wether or not travel expenses are paid, how many hours are to be worked each day etc will help.

Sorry GoodGuys, don't like to rain on your pareade but this does not qualify as "quite well paid". The contracts we are managing at the moment are paying very significantly more than that. I think my skippers would throw me in if I suggested they work for £150 per day. Might be worth your while renegotiating with your clients

what would you class as a good rate of pay then ? so as you would not be thrown in?
sounds good enough for me - pending on hours of course.

Thanks guys, I am a very experienced commercial skipper, perhaps you could point me in the direction of the better paying jobs and I could jump.
Cheers

Good Guys
Its all in perspective, I know plenty skippers who work for far less and would consider that a good rate, they are mainly working in the leisure sector.
Its not for me but if you post some details it may suit one of our freelancers

about the going rate as long as other benefits are added . I drive jets when daughter is away from her boat on holiday. Doing it this last week and this coming week. But I do it for her, and cos I enjoy the job on an excellent boat and the craque onboard, not cos we need the wage. It would help to know what the boat is, cos there is some awful crap out there that I wouldnt set foot on, where it is and what it is doing.

What qualifications do you need to do this sort of work?
I'm sick of the job I do now and need a change.

I'm interested as to what sort of rates you could expect as a commercial skipper. Can anyone shed any light?
Many thanks.

I would say about the £150 a day mark is good - UNLESS it is daft and long hours then it would be more - or on a 'one off' job that pays very well - IF you were to think you would get allot more than this per day - on a steady job - seasonal or a week or 2 then i think in all honesty you would be struggling - i alway try to think that unless it is your own boat - and that you are paying for the upkeep, fuel, all safety gear , insurance etc then that is ok - all you - as the driver - is to arrive with is a your lunch, and a certificate.
ready to be battered

dont know what "it" is yet and what the boat is. I have seen big twin jet boats that should never have been coded-and perhaps weren't in reality-that I wouldnt sail over wet grass on. On a decent boat would have to include travel/good accomodation/generous expenses etc. but to be realistic at the moment too busy with commercial work and training to consider anything else for a while.

Isn't that a case of "Dad I'm going on holiday, will ya do this for me for a bit" ?

Funny that, I've been doing exactly the same thing (except it was more "Dad, I'd rather work in the pub this weekend .....")
