Doug if you were to find someone with the whole list of required qualifications who was under 25 would you be un-interested in employing them?

I hope this doesnt seem like a smart ass question!

Well I hope he has an "objective justification" otherwise he is breaking the law!

I would hazard a guess that it has to do with vehicle insurance.

Its just i know two people with all of the above qualifications and many with nearly all of the above mentioned. The youngest is only 19 so I wondered what the reason for the must be 25 qualification is?

mmm but unless it is impossible to get insurance then it would not be an objective justification; simply being more expensive is not enough! [And if it were impossible presumably it would be in the "must be" not "would be nice to be" section!]

However Doug - on a more constructive note - if you are needing someone to drive & tow trailers you might want to expand the driving requirement to include the relevant categories.

Age

The main reason for the age is as Jimbo identified the Insurance for driving. I have not found a commercial vehicle policy that matches all of my requirments and covers drivers aged under 25. Im not saying their is not one but certainly our insurance company don't cover under 25s for driving, (we have a combined public liabilty for sail and power, employeres liability, boat insurance, centre insurance and commercail vehicle)

Polwart

Good point re towing endorsement on license.

Regarding under 25s, we have said desirable not essentail. We have a wish list for a new employee, but are flexable enough to realise that someone who fits most of the criteria would be an asset.

Hurricane

We will consider under 25s, our outgoing instructor was 21 when he started (now 25). If you know someone who migt be intrested please point them in our direction

Doug I will do - I was not being a smart arse by asking I just wondered why, I can fully understand the issues with under 25s insurance!

Dont get me started on the stupid money I have to pay for insurance just so these wide boy racer chavs can go and crash their car into a hedge the day after they have bought it! Grrr talk about one spoiling it for the rest!
