Power, Motor, PWC & Sail Skipper/Instructor Internship

It's that time of year again! We are now recruiting for the next Internship Programme, which commences in September 2013.

During 14 months of on the job training you will work alongside our full time Instructors and skippers, gain experience in many sides of our business, build a strong base of qualifications and have plenty of opportunities to put the new training into practice.

There is no other comparable programme in the world that provides such a diverse base of RYA/MCA training. Less experienced candidates can graduate with
  • MCA Yachtmaster Offshore Certificate of Competence (sail or power)
  • MCA Advanced Powerboat Certificate of Competence
  • RYA Powerboat Instructor
  • RYA PWC Instructor
  • RYA Keelboat Instructor
  • BSAC Boat Handling Instructor
  • STCW'95 Medical First Aid

More experienced entrants who already hold one or more of the above can further develop in areas such as
  • STCW'95 Medical Care
  • RYA Ocean Yachtmaster Shorebased
  • MCA Yachtmaster Ocean Certificate of Competence
  • RYA Cruising Instructor (sail or power)
  • RYA Advanced Powerboat Instructor
  • RYA Senior Keelboat Instructor
  • RYA Racing Instructor
  • RYA Advanced Keelboat Instructor

Full details are available at Internship | Stormforce Coaching

Looks like an excellent programme, I might know someone who would fit the bill.

What would would the salary be? I'd assume close to minimum wage?

I suggest you read the pdf on Stormforce's site. These positions are unpaid.

Into the Blue

Essentially we give the Intern £15-25K of fast track courses. The £25K end of things is available to any Intern who is motivated to take full advantage of the opportunity. As with many things, "you get out what you put in". We tend to find the slightly older Interns who have a few years experience of full time employment put more in and correspondingly get more out than the parentally funded 18 yr olds. However everyone has the same opportunity and we have had some 18 yr olds who have worked really hard to get as much training and experience in as they can.

The £15 to 25K is based on retail prices we charge other customers who don't enrol on the programme, its not a fictitious number pulled out of the sky.

I honestly don't know of a better way to become a Yachtmaster Offshore and multi discipline Instructor. Proof of this is how many of our former Interns now work for us both on a freelance basis and full time.

I would like to add that we have employed many of the 'Graduates' that have been through the Stormforce scheme and the standard of training and experience that they gain is second to none. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone to get into the industry

Closing date imminent

As we have been taking applications for a few weeks, this is a quick reminder.

One week left to closing date!

If you want to apply or know someone else you think should do then please do so this week.

I will be contacting successful candidates next week and inviting them to selection.

Good luck

HI, we have run selection and offered 6 applicants a place. All have accepted and have signed up. We do have one place remaining and we are specifically after someone with a professional background in joinery, boat maintenance, mechanical engineering, 12 volt electrics or as a builder. This person does not even require a particularly extensive boating background as we can provide the boating bit.
