Skippers' Ticket?

Can anyone tell me how the MCA qualifications equate to any others - predominately the Yachtmaster Offshore (Commercial).

Job hunting and MCA 3 is required for one postition. Is there any exemption, etc given?

The best thing to do is look at the MCA site and download the various documents explaining what qualifications are needed to operate at what levels on commercial craft (think its the training area). There is loads of information and it is not quite as straightforward as Yachmaster equates to ****/gives exemptions to... etc

Get in touch with UKSA in Cowes as they will be your nearest place for MCA class 4 and 3 courses.

Can they now do class 3 as well as 4 & 5?

Warsash can do the whole lot - yachts and Merchant Shipping.

I was wrong UKSA only do 4 and 5 so Warsash will be your nearest place for training.

MCA Quals

Are you talking about Boatmaster Grades?

These are for passenger boats (Grades 1,2&3).
RYA is up to 12 persons only.

skippers ticket

MCA are a confusion. They wanted 2 day Firefighting from Warsash-STCW 95 @ £415 (only 6 places in uk doing them according to MCA) also Eng1 medical (again nominated medical not own GP) But they seem to accept the 1 day fishermans firefighting course @ £80 & ML5 medical (own GP).

Amongst every other possible commercially endorsed certificate (sail & power), I've also got BML Grade 1 (250 passengers). Know of any decent jobs about?
