For this encounter I have no time or respect for this company.

A.C Yes very inconsiderate and a fould mouthed lout, but rather than painting the whole company with this brush I would have picked up a phone and called his boss. If his boss was any self respecting kind of business man he would have rollocked the lout.
Unless that was the boss on the jetty thing then yeah its a company problem!

Sadly it's typical of certain self appointed Rib "traffic wardens" who seem take any opportunity to criticize someone or someones operation who is not known to them. Of course they know so much better.

Codprawn and timw - You're a breath of fresh air !
We're all aware of what is obviously good practice, (and usually even essential ! ) but as you so rightly point out, the "traffic wardens" are of so urgent to judge, and then spout the oh so predictable tirade of self-righteous indignation at somebody else's operation of which they usually know little !
Good for you guys and a welcome measure of balance !

Whilst on the subject I noticed that the 4 or 5 speedboats that head out of Padstow carrying upto 12 passengers a time never have LJs in sight. considering that they operate in some pretty rough waters as they head up the Estuary over the Doom Bar I am amazed they do not use them..

Hello Ladies/Gents
Re the "Lulworth Cowboy," you will be pleased to hear he gone, myself and family have bought the boat and are now operating out of Lulworth Cove, we are a local Lulworth family and my father worked on the boat as a teenager.
Although the "Cowboy" is renowned for his bad manners and unfriendly approach the jetty is still private property and as you can appreciate we are trying to run a business. If you've seen the jetty you will understand that it is not capable of taking 2 boats therefore anybody mooring up will cost us money if it holds up the trips, we are also not insured. In addition we are dictated to by Lulworth Estate and part of our agreement with them (which is pretty expensive,) is that we don't allow other boats to land on our jetty or launch from the beach without prior arrangement.

Thanks to your comments, whenever somebody Googles "Lulworth RIB Rides" this thread is the first thing to appear. Obviously not very good publicity which could now affect our new business. I wish you had spoke to the previous owner and got the facts before using the word "Cowboy." For the record, although he isn't a very nice man, from what we know he was doing everything by the book and in accordance with the MCA.
Makes me think you are not a very nice person either to bad mouth someones business for no reason.

Like many on here Andre has proven many times that he has a genuine interest in supporting the boating community, just like you he is entitled to his opinion too.
If this thread is the first thing you see on Google, you must have known about it when you bought the business?

I couldn't agree more.
Rib Dot Net is full of traffic warden types tut tutting away if something doesn't meet their petty minded approval.
I was pleased to expose and challenge this attidude towards the beginning of this long thread. I stood up and supported the Lulworth Cove business.
A number of forum members were made to look very petty indeed. One even went so far as reporting the operation to the MCA. What an appalling sneak.
Good luck in your new business. Be warned though, if you spot any nerdy looking people with clipboards hiding behind trees and spying on you, rest assured that they are looking for any faults in your operation that they can post here and feel important and good about themselves.
